PRESIDENT REPORT - WAYNE GIRODAT

Welcome to another year of hockey and all the best to the teams in the 2019-2020 season. Thanks for everyone for coming tonight. I am very pleased at how the league ran last season and we had no major issues. Remember to contact George Bodwitch for any website information or if you need to change something during the season. He did a fantastic job last year! Have a great hockey season!

SHA - GREG HAUBRICH

Thanks to the executives and all the volunteers for the time spent to make the hockey season happen. Please note that there will be some reffing changes this season which will be discussed by Tim Tisdale. It is now mandatory that the coaches wear helmets when on the ice at practice.

REFEREE - TIM TISDALE

There are no new rules for reffing. The regulations for the # system has changed for some levels. For Bantam, Midget, Bantam AA and up, SHA wants to go to the 4 man system. It is for safety reasons for the players. There is also a set rate for paying refs in the SHA Handbook. This will be straight across the entire province.

Tim raised a concern that the SSHL is the only league he is aware of that has specific Rules in regards to the ages of game officials officiating games in specific age divisions and would like to see that possibly change so the league is not holding back officials from developing within our league. It was suggested that Tim submit a written letter to the SSHL so that this rule could be possibly revised/changed at the Spring AGM.

Rules & Regulations

17) Pee Wee and Atom Divisions shall require the referee to be two divisions older and the linesmen at least one year older than the team playing. Bantam and Midget Divisions shall require the referee to be an adult and the two linesmen at least one division older that the team playing. Atom Division may have 2 man referee system as long as referees are 2 divisions older. Home teams are to pay all costs of playoff referees. Linesmen can be local officials unless requested by the visiting team. If a visiting team requests neutral linesmen the travel expenses would be paid by the requesting team.

If some towns are having an issue with the 4 man rule then they can run with the 3 man system. If SHA finds that this is continually happening then they might have to look at it closer.

OLD BUSINESS

There was no old business brought up for discussion. President Wayne Girodat brought up once again to respect the other towns, rinks and refs.

NEW BUSINESS

George is more than welcome to have anyone contact him with questions in regards to the website. The more information the better on the forms when it comes to contact numbers and email addresses. Please make them legible. The passwords will be sent out to the managers of the teams so that they are to access the website and enter game information.

Game information needs to be entered the same across the board for the age groups and this will be discussed at the scheduling meetings.

The home team has 24hrs to enter the game sheet on the website. Minimal entry is at least the score or else you will be fined by the league.

George has continued to do a great job with the website and all the towns appreciate it. Job well done George!!

  5. 6)  Overage Applications

This year there were no overage applications sent in to the board.

  6. 7)  Teams 2019 / 2020

We are looking at the following totals Atom - 12
    PeeWee - 13
    Bantam - 7

    Midget - 8 ?

  7. 8)  League Town Lists

To revisit the hockey teams list as to whether Fox Valley should still be listed or fined, as there has been no response to our contact this year.
