Meeting called to order 7:00pm - Ryan Brown

1. Introductions:

2. Adoption of Agenda

-  Table item 7(2) Overage player requests for review by Executive only

-  Motion to adopt Agenda: Shaunavon  2^nd: Frontier

 

3. Previous Meeting Minutes

-  Spring 2023 AGM (May 3/23 - postponed from April 19), as read by Ryan B.

-  Motion: Shaunavon  2nd: Glentworth

 

4. Financial Report - as read by Tracey Stenson, Treasurer

- Motion: Gull Lake  2^nd: Maple Creek

 

5. President Report

- Ryan reminded everyone that all coaching (bench) staff must be registered on Hockey Canada roster with appropriate certification.

 

6. Commissioner Reports - Welcome New Division Commissioners

                  - U11 (Mossbank)  Rob Rutko

                  - U13 (Kincaid)  Gaetan GIrardin

                  - U15 (Glentworth) 

                  - U18 (Cabri)  Neil Block

 

7. New Business

 

• Scheduling meeting dates - *each team must come with 2-4 extra time slots

- Presentation by Tracey Stenson; overview of the online scheduling process

      - modelled after the Female League scheduling, facilitated via Zoom.

      - associations need to provide ice times approx. one week in advance

      - order of selection is pre-determined (random) which allows for choice/planning

      - spreadsheets and training provided, approx. cost is $350-400 for whole league

      - picks are completed like a draft, teams pick their away games

- timeframe is quick, approx. 2 minutes/choice, works better with 2 people/team

- consensus was to try this year and evaluate, begin with U18 tentative Oct 3^rd.

 

• Overage Player Requests - Cabri (U11), Herbert (U11), Rockglen/Glentworth (U13)

- tabled for review by the Executive following AGM, decisions to be recorded in scheduling meeting minutes for the respective divisions

 

• Tracey Stenson reported that Gull Lake U15’s had a difficult situation this year with registration. Both goalies went to AA teams, as well as 2 skaters.  Swift Current Minor Hockey said they would take all players or none and no merge (shared games).  Hockey Sask got involved and SCMH took all players that wanted to go there and the rest went to other centers.

 

 

8. Old Business

 

1)  Scholarship for U18 Graduating members 

- $500 scholarship towards post-secondary education for a graduating U18 player in SSHL.  The criteria and application process/forms to be determined, recipient can defer up to 3 years pending enrollment. Shauna will follow up on behalf of the VP's

 

2)  Fines and Memberships

- no shows from Spring AGM were Eastend and Frontier, both fined $200.  Both were present for Fall AGM and therefore remain in SSHL.

- Frontier paid, Eastend sending a cheque

 

 

9. Next meeting date - Spring AGM 2024 set for Wednesday April 10^th, 2024
