REFEREE REPORT

Ian Schafer was present at the meeting and wanted to inform the different Minor Hockey Associations about what was new.

The main points that were discussed  were that the SHA Referee's Division was dissolved and was transitioned to the SHA Officiating Development Program.  This was done to allow committees  to work on focused areas for officiating development which will include resources and support for all officials, minor hockey associations and leagues.  New this year will be the Grassroots Committee which sole purpose will be the recruitment, retention and development of officials working U15 levels of hockey and below.  Members of this committee will act as liaisons for leagues and minor hockey associations who fall under the U15 and below.  Members will also be required to help coach and mentor officials at these levels.

Also, the registration that is available to all officials in order for them to be active officials with our association.  The registration went live on September 23rd and must be attended online in order to qualify for the clinic process.  We will be transitioning clinics this year to an online Zoom/MS Teams platform in order to conform to COVID-19 restrictions.  There may be an opportunity later on in the season for hosting on-ice clinics in some centers.
